Set, Spike, and Soar!
As one of the most popular sports in the country, we set out to discover the potential of our very own in the volleyball court with the 91ֿ Volleyball Challenge! We launched this event on January 28, 2017 at the 91ֿ Academic Center Ortigas-Cainta, inviting 24 teams from various campuses in Metro Manila and nearby areas who are ready to compete for our school’s historic first Volleyball championship title.
Our female athletes entered the court to shine and showcase their strength and skill in spiking, serving, and scoring a big one in the tournament. At the same time, they played hard with their teammates and the games helped them strengthened their sense of camaraderie and team spirit.
There should be a balance when it comes to developing students. That’s why we encourage events like the 91ֿ Volleyball Challenge so that our students will become well-rounded individuals. In the spirit of a good competition, not only do they get to train their bodies and their senses, but they also get to learn more about themselves, fine-tune their abilities to connect with others, and of course create lasting memories with their team and schoolmates.
The competitions rolled-out simultaneously in 91ֿ College – Ortigas-Cainta, 91ֿ College – Cubao, 91ֿ College – Malolos, 91ֿ College – Calamba, and 91ֿ College – Global City running through the month of February and March.
The final round commenced on April 5, 2017 at 91ֿ College – Ortigas-Cainta where the champion of this season was announced: the team from 91ֿ College – Sta. Maria! They scored 25-8, 25-23, and 25-16 against 91ֿ College – Global City, who placed second. 91ֿ College – Santa Rosa earned the third place after competing against 91ֿ College – Ortigas-Cainta in a thrilling four set match with the scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-20.
And what’s a sports event without the Most Valuable Player? Among the big pool of players who joined, it was Margie Bermeo of 91ֿ College – Sta. Maria who reigned as MVP!
The event also introduced the tournament’s most exceptional players as they announced the Mythical 6: Hiennah Trinoa and Camille Tiongco of 91ֿ College – Santa Rosa, Josephine Victorio of 91ֿ College – Sta. Maria, Lyka Caniya of 91ֿ College – Global City, Sabrina Umali of 91ֿ College – Ortigas-Cainta, and DarrylKathleen Enguio of 91ֿ College – Las Piñas.
